A mileage tracker with no account
Odie never asks for an email, a password or a phone number. There is no server of ours for your trips to go to. This page explains exactly what that means, what it does not mean, and what it costs you.
What “no account” means here
Your trips live on the phone
Routes, distances, tags, expenses, receipts and odometer readings are stored in the app’s own database on your iPhone. Routes are simplified before they are saved, and they never leave the device unless you export them.
iCloud sync is yours, not ours
Sync is on by default and can be turned off. It uses the private database of your own iCloud account. Apple hosts it, you control it, and we have no key, no login and no way to read it.
Nothing to sign up for
Open the app, grant location and motion, and it is working. There is no identity on our side to lose, leak, or sell. Delete the app and the data on the phone goes with it.
What “no third-party SDKs” means here
Most apps bundle code from analytics, crash-reporting and advertising companies. Odie bundles none, and the evidence is in the project itself.
Only Apple frameworks
The project has no package dependencies. Every import is an Apple framework: Core Location, Core Motion, Core Bluetooth, MapKit, CloudKit, SwiftUI and friends. There is no analytics, ad or crash-reporting code to phone home.
No network code of our own
The app contains no URLSession calls. The only network traffic comes from Apple services the app uses to do its job: Apple Maps for address search and driving distance, Apple’s geocoder to name a place, and CloudKit for your private sync.
A privacy manifest that says so
The app’s privacy manifest declares no tracking and no collected data types. Apple builds the App Store privacy label from that file, so what you read on the store matches what is in the code.
Diagnostics stay local
The app keeps a small diagnostics log on the phone to help you and us understand a missed trip. It leaves the phone only if you choose to export it and send it.
What it costs you
Keeping trips off our servers is a trade, and it is fair to spell out the other side.
- No web dashboard. Reports and exports are made on the phone and shared from there.
- No team features. There is no manager view and no central billing.
- iPhone only, iOS 17 or later. No Android, iPad, Watch or CarPlay.
- No importer from other apps. A new log starts clean.
- If you turn off iCloud sync and lose the phone without a backup, the trips are gone. Make a JSON backup now and then.

Questions
If there is no account, how do I get my trips on a new iPhone?
Two ways. Leave iCloud sync on and sign in to the same Apple ID on the new phone, and the trips come down from your private iCloud database. Or make a JSON backup in the app, move the file yourself, and import it.
Does Apple see my trips?
Apple runs the services the app relies on. Map search sends your query to Apple Maps. Turning a coordinate into a street name sends that coordinate to Apple’s geocoder. iCloud sync stores your data in your private CloudKit database under Apple’s terms. We do not receive any of it.
What do I give up by not having an account?
A web dashboard, team features, and any platform other than the iPhone. If you need a manager to review drives from a browser, Odie is not the right tool.
How can I check these claims?
The app ships a privacy manifest that declares no tracking and no collected data types, and the App Store privacy label is generated from it. The app has no third-party packages and no URLSession code of its own. Our privacy policy says the same in plain words.
